Description
The HRPG series is a family ofminiature panel mount opticalencoders, also known as RotaryPulse Generators (RPG) and
digital potentiometers. The HRPGis designed to be mounted on afront panel and used as a rotary,data-entry device. The HRPG isvery flexible for numerousapplications due to the manyconfiguration options available.These options include detents orsmooth, multiple terminations,versatile mounting capabilities,and different shaft configurations.

HRPG Series
The HRPG uses optical reflectivetechnology providing accuracyand reliability to the encoder. AnLED emits a beam of light ontothe specular codewheel surface.When the light strikes the surface,it projects the image of the code-wheel back on the photodetector,causing the output to change. Theentire detector circuit is on oneIC, thus the part is less sensitiveto temperature and other environ-mental variations.
Applications
Typical applications for theRotary Pulse Generator includefront panel instruments, audio/visual boards, and other devicesrequiring digital output from aturning knob.
